Another Place, Another Time

Ever feel like a place gets under your skin and feel like you can never leave? I have and I wish I had never left. "Where?" You ask. I won't tell you, but you may surmise the place. I went this past fall and took a whirlwind tour of this country. I stayed in three major cities and three small towns. I saw mountains, two different seas, countryside, tall buildings, and a partridge in a pear tree. (Ok, so I didn't see a partridge in a pear tree, but I saw gypsy being told off by an old local man.) Each one with its own unique art and dialect. I felt like I was home as my ancestors were from this country. My language skills were honed day by day and I acknowledged myself becoming more like the locals. Whenever I speak of my trip to people and tell them of all the most delicious morsels that I have ever tasted, people say, "You must have gained 20 lbs with all that food." I just laugh and think to myself, silly American, I lost weight as I ate like a local. Believe me when I tell you, I didn't try to lose weight. I digested many items included whole milk, wine, cheese, liquors, fried foods, bread, dessert, and meats. I drank wine with lunch and dinner; sometimes drinking wine as a midmorning snack. I have never seen such awe inspiring art and architecture. Beautiful pieces sculpted with a chisel or paintbrush. In America, I lived in a old house and it was 60 years old. In the country I visited, that would be modern. I stayed in a hotel that was 500 years old. It was well maintained and I felt like time had stopped. I visited a local outdoor fish market that was probably around 500 years old as well. Fish was so fresh and it looked like it would make a great meal. There were vegetables and fruits of varying colors and made my mouth water just thinking about what I cook make with such fresh and ripe produce. My grandmother as a little girl went to this market and had many memories of this area. She was so happy that I was going back to the land of her birth. All she wanted was a picture taken of me in her city. When I gave her the picture, I'm sure that a tear came to her eye and she remembered a time gone by..... I am currently planning my next trip to this country. The money I spend is a small price to pay for such a wonderful experience. They say you can't take it with you when you die. I plan to enjoy life and not squander my money on stupid purchase that don't matter. So, when did your last purchase change your life?

This man has found his own Personal Jesus. I feel the same way as he does. Thank you for making me see that there are Americans that understand how I feel.

What has happened to America's Jesus?

Good Morning

Watching people as I drive by.

Feeling like an eagle as I fly.

Closing in on people walking down the street.

Always wondering if we'll ever meet.

As the sun makes its arrival,

The smile on my face to attempt another day's survival.

I feel like that I am in a crossroad in my life. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. To some, including my nephew, I'm a totally cool aunt. It's nice to be appreciated even if only for a few fleeting moments.

Brrrrrrrr!

They are predicting the first snow here in the land of Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks. Which is a very dangerous time for driving. People in this area do not know how to drive in the snow. There is an urban legend that many years ago there was a huge blizzard and people left their cars on the interstate and walked home. WTF? I learned how to drive in warm tropical weather, but spent my fair share of time in the snow covered mitten state. I can drive in the snow, but I cringe every time it snows in this area. As Tiny Tim would say, "God bless, every one!" (I kind of feel like Tiny Tim with my current leg cast, but alas that is another story.)

Johnny Depp is awesome. Check out this article: Johnny Depp Talks Moss, Movies at AFI Fest
If it was up to me, I would never stick up for my ex. They could burn in hell (They deserve it too) for all I care. Johnny is so gallant sticking up for Kate Moss, but I didn't see him sticking up for Winona Ryder. So, he must be just like the rest of us.

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.

I heard through an informed source that pink is the new black. Think what you will, but fashion is mighty interesting.

I saw a bumper sticker that caught my eye this morning. I ususally just read them chuckle and move on, but this morning was different. It said:

Renewable Energy is homeland security

Wow, five powerful words coming together to say an important statement. Time to pause and think.

Ding Dong the wicked witch is dead. Oops wrong company.
All I can say is the reign of terror is over:

Eisner leaves mixed legacy as Disney chief

I know you'll say that Eisner brought Disney back from the pit of dispair in the 80's. I say to you EuroDisney. You'll say rising profits. I say reduction of onsite animators in Orlando. We could go round and round, but the icing on the cake is giving Roy Disney the boot.

My job is usually quite meaningless and I like it like that. I had a job in Corporate USA, but it drove me mad and now I have a job where I am underemployed. I am usually ok with that. Today though, I had the most useless job of removing a sticky label from 10 pens. It's kind of a low blow to my self esteem, but I digress. I guess that's the downside to working a job that does not need a college degree. It makes me sad that I spent thousands of dollars for my college degree which I can't use even if I try.

Today, I think I'll wear a hat to disguise myself. I heard this helps.

Another day driving, minding my own business. The car in front of me is a nondescript white "special edition" Acura complete with sunroof. Doesn't sound like much. Is it the car that makes the man or the man who makes the car? Anyway, two knuckleheads in the Acura have made for an interesting ride home. Let's call the driver W. and the passenger, Jeb. W. is smoking with his cigarette outside the car so we can all enjoy second hand smoke. How very considerate of him allowing us to smoke for free. Since he must of paid at least $4 for a pack of cigarettes. Then there is Jeb. Jeb is just as interesting. He is also letting us smoke fee free. Plus giving us a free show with his dancing wrist. The piece of resistance is hocking two loogies within a 1/2 mile. What luck I have to view such interesting show of human behavior.

I was on my way to work minding my own business. I peeked out of the corner of my eye,and I see a man on a unicycle. Not any unicycle, but a Hagrid sized unicycle. This man must belong to the circus. That can be the only explanation for riding that strange contraption.

To all my fans or fan as the case may be, I apologize for not writing for a while. It all boils down to not much to say and too short of time. Here's another food for thought: chocolate, nachos, and pasta with butter & cheese.

I had a previous post where I stated that there was an error with the word fug. I thought she meant fog.

Tired, so very tired
Stayed up late reading the new Harry Potter book. What the heck. Instead of answering questions, the author posed more unanwered questions. What a conundrum.
