Brrrrrrrr!

They are predicting the first snow here in the land of Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks. Which is a very dangerous time for driving. People in this area do not know how to drive in the snow. There is an urban legend that many years ago there was a huge blizzard and people left their cars on the interstate and walked home. WTF? I learned how to drive in warm tropical weather, but spent my fair share of time in the snow covered mitten state. I can drive in the snow, but I cringe every time it snows in this area. As Tiny Tim would say, "God bless, every one!" (I kind of feel like Tiny Tim with my current leg cast, but alas that is another story.)

Face Time with Bob Geldof

In this article, it states that Bob Geldof will forever be known for organizing Live Aid. Bologney (or Bologna if you prefer)!! He will forever been known as Pink who shaved all his hair off his body in The Wall. Bob must have that Comfortably Numb feeling right about now.....

Johnny Depp is awesome. Check out this article: Johnny Depp Talks Moss, Movies at AFI Fest
If it was up to me, I would never stick up for my ex. They could burn in hell (They deserve it too) for all I care. Johnny is so gallant sticking up for Kate Moss, but I didn't see him sticking up for Winona Ryder. So, he must be just like the rest of us.

Maybe Sweden should impose a drinking age for the moose.

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.

I heard through an informed source that pink is the new black. Think what you will, but fashion is mighty interesting.

I saw a bumper sticker that caught my eye this morning. I ususally just read them chuckle and move on, but this morning was different. It said:

Renewable Energy is homeland security

Wow, five powerful words coming together to say an important statement. Time to pause and think.

Ding Dong the wicked witch is dead. Oops wrong company.
All I can say is the reign of terror is over:

Eisner leaves mixed legacy as Disney chief

I know you'll say that Eisner brought Disney back from the pit of dispair in the 80's. I say to you EuroDisney. You'll say rising profits. I say reduction of onsite animators in Orlando. We could go round and round, but the icing on the cake is giving Roy Disney the boot.

My job is usually quite meaningless and I like it like that. I had a job in Corporate USA, but it drove me mad and now I have a job where I am underemployed. I am usually ok with that. Today though, I had the most useless job of removing a sticky label from 10 pens. It's kind of a low blow to my self esteem, but I digress. I guess that's the downside to working a job that does not need a college degree. It makes me sad that I spent thousands of dollars for my college degree which I can't use even if I try.

Today, I think I'll wear a hat to disguise myself. I heard this helps.

Another day driving, minding my own business. The car in front of me is a nondescript white "special edition" Acura complete with sunroof. Doesn't sound like much. Is it the car that makes the man or the man who makes the car? Anyway, two knuckleheads in the Acura have made for an interesting ride home. Let's call the driver W. and the passenger, Jeb. W. is smoking with his cigarette outside the car so we can all enjoy second hand smoke. How very considerate of him allowing us to smoke for free. Since he must of paid at least $4 for a pack of cigarettes. Then there is Jeb. Jeb is just as interesting. He is also letting us smoke fee free. Plus giving us a free show with his dancing wrist. The piece of resistance is hocking two loogies within a 1/2 mile. What luck I have to view such interesting show of human behavior.

I was on my way to work minding my own business. I peeked out of the corner of my eye,and I see a man on a unicycle. Not any unicycle, but a Hagrid sized unicycle. This man must belong to the circus. That can be the only explanation for riding that strange contraption.

To all my fans or fan as the case may be, I apologize for not writing for a while. It all boils down to not much to say and too short of time. Here's another food for thought: chocolate, nachos, and pasta with butter & cheese.

Harry Potter Spoiler Alert:

I had a previous post where I stated that there was an error with the word fug. I thought she meant fog.

Tired, so very tired
Stayed up late reading the new Harry Potter book. What the heck. Instead of answering questions, the author posed more unanwered questions. What a conundrum.

Since Friday I had a post about Jack Black, I thought I start this week with a post in the opposite spectrum about Jack White.

Let me just say: Jack White is my hero. I just heard him interviewed on my local radio show his advice sounds like it would come out of my mouth. The radio host asked him about being nervous about performing in London after all the terrorist attacks. Jack stated (I'll paraphrase) that he is not afraid because showing fear is what the terrorist want and if we are fearful then they win.

Just a side note: The White Stripes are filming their new video at the Magic Castle in the Los Angeles area.

This morning, I thought I saw Jack Black walking down the street. Same color hair, Same layered style hair (waved feathered comb over), but too tall and too thin to be Jack Black. Just a wanna be in disguise. Though if I had to pick a celebrity to emulate, I doubt I would pick Jack Black.

SSDD
Same Sh** Different Day!
I have temporarily upped my hours at work and it seems that currently all I live for is work. The same problems I had with my hands last year has returned with full vengeance since I have increased my hours. Coincidence? I think not.

What's up with the Frog?

This story should be in Odd News. It seems quite surreal. They are saying that the frog is dead and buried because they don't want a teen image anymore. The WB is turning into a strange channel. I used to watch a ton of shows on the WB, but they kept disappearing one by one. The only thing that is left is Smallville and Charmed. I really not interest in watching those two shows first hand. If it's on and nothing else is catching my fancy. I might partake in a little Charmed or Smallville, but I doubt it. Since, I haven't watched these two shows this summer.

Hi! My name is Holy Cannoli and I am a Lushaholic. Put any type of Lush cosmetics in front of me and I will use it. I do not discriminate. I keep sniffing myself because I smell so good. Smells sweet and nondescript. Like I am a piece of candy from a sweet shop. You to can smell like me at: Lush Cosmetics.
Smell ya later....

I just had deja vu. I went to use the facilities this morning and as I was walking to the powder room. I felt like I was going back in time to the second grade at Most Holier than thou Catholic School. I saw myself entering the lavoratory and picking my favorite stall to use. I can remember being upset when my favorite stall was occupied. What a strange memory. One would think of a happier memory than one of waste removal. Well c'est la vie!

I guess at some point a new Supreme Court Judge will be sworn in after all the rigmarole, pomp and circumstance. I understand that we currently have a "Republican Government". To my knowledge, Republicans are usually less government intervention. A kind of hands off motif. Currently, it seems that it is morphing into some sort of new "Republican Party-Evangelical Christian Style, if you will". To me taking away certain rights (I am trying to be evasive on the issue I am discussing), seems to show very intrusive government control. I am afraid for this country's future.

I finally slept like the dead last night, but I am still tired this morning. What's up with that?

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

I guess the dog days of summer are here. I wonder how long it will last. Possibly another 2 days? Temperatures are soaring in to the low 80's and it feels like a tropical paradise. Sun is shining; there are blue skies with puffy little white clouds. I am sure my tomato plants in the garden are soaking up all this sun and will produce an abundance of fruit (or vegetable if you so choose). My dogs are easily tired in this hot weather and seem less rambunctious. I read the Pope is currently on vacation in the Italian Alps. According to this article I found on yahoo: "Pope hails vacations as escape from frenetic life".

The Pope feels that a vacation is necessary to deal with day to day life of a city deweller. I say right on Pope Benedict.

Spoiler Alert for Harry Potter:

I am currently reading "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". In the third chapter there is the word Fug. Is this a new word that JK Rowling has invented. No, I believe not. It is a typo for the word fog. This of course in the long run will make this edition worth money, but there have been millions sold this past weekend. I will try to keep an inventory of all the typos from this book.

I decided to add a new part to the name of this blog. The original Le Soapbox was written by a college student for the newspaper of my alma mater. I always enjoyed reading his rants and raves and true stories that often occurred to him. So then, I aspire to have a "mini me" version aptly named "Le Soapbox, Jr."

Last year, I watched a show called Kingdom Hospital. This show was written by Stephen King and I had great quotes. Including: "...And a prune danish, big boy..", "You do me a solid and I'll do you a solid." It was a quirky show with potential. A potential that was not reached due to the fact that it was cancelled after 13 shows. Why is it that all the quirky show are cancelled and we are left with these "brain fart" shows know as reality TV. Enough is enough already. One or two is fine, but there seems to be thousands. Who are these Nielsen raters anyways. They must be one sock short of pair or one point below idiot on the IQ scale.
Though I have to say that this television year has redeemed itself with such shows as: Lost, Desperate Housewives, House, Grey's Anatomy, and Veronica Mars (another quirky show on the bubble to be canceled, but that goodness it was picked up for fall).

"Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka....."
I can't get this song out of my head. It's like "It's a small world." The most annoying song, but yet it plays over and over again in my head.

Extra tickets are going on sale today for the Beck show. His concert is currently sold out and this new fact is quite exciting. I did hear something yesterday that disheartened me about Beck. He believes in that Scientology pyramid scam crap. This really shouldn't bother me so much as that is his personal life and I really should or could care less. It's all about the music though.

In regards to my post from yesterday, there is a line in the movie, "The Breakfast Club" that says it all. "If your mess with the bull you'll get the horns."

I saw a strange car this morning. It was a early 90's Toyota Corolla, but it was modified. They had taken out the back seat, cut open the roof from where the backseat begins to the trunk, and then placed some sort of bed liner in it to give it a truck feel. Of course the owner was strange looking man with long blond hair in a respective ponytail. I'll call him Bob because he looks like that he would bob his head to some sort of Yanni music on steroids.

Reading the news off of Yahoo, I saw a heading "Four Runners Gored at Spain Bull Run". The thought ran through my head: If you are asinine enough to run from a bull, then you deserve to be gored.
"Dazed and Confused" is a song by Led Zepplin, but I seemed to be living this song at this exact moment. I find myself staring off into space. I drove into work this morning, yet I don't remember the trip that well. Work is extremely quiet this morning which is not helping my current situation. I have to get a good night's sleep at some point in my life. I think I need to live a different song such as "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" by the Ramones. I guess if I was living that song I wouldn't need any sleep!

Here is a silly song I used to sing as a child:

One dark day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other.
Pulled out a knife and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise and came to see the two dead boys.
If you do not believe this tale,
ask the blind man he saw it all.

Darn it! I lost my post!

It was about two twisted nightmares that I started to research and reading about them made it worse. I dreamt about bad omens, blah, blah, blah

Oh no, my mind is not functioning. That's right, I forgot to have some caffeine. Apparently after a certain trip to the north somewhere; I have become addicted to English Breakfast Tea. It appears to be a necessary evil to clear the cobwebs from my brain. I am supposed to be working, but I find myself staring off into space. It may be the lack of caffeine or it may be that Attention Deficit Syndrome that I have self diagnosed. It all started back in elementary school when I was admonished for daydreaming constantly.

Here is a quote I find funny:

"Must control fists of death."

Just received some news that will squelch my current dream. But....

"Along our path of life we get a series of detours...
and we all get frustrated and impatient
when we feel we have to leave the path we've chosen.

But what if the real path of life...
is really made up of all these detours...
and instead of learning the real lessons of life,
we miss them because we were too busy being
frustrated and impatient!!"

Scientific Style "Slog"

I rode the bus today and decided to write my own "slog". A woman, we'll call her Earth Day Girl(EDG), tried to get her bike on the front of the bus. EDG was having trouble. So, the bus driver, Earl for short, had to yell instructions to her while the rest of us waited. EDG finally got on the bus with what seemed like 150 packages. Earl told her to sit down while she found her bus pass. EDG found her pass, but it didn't beep. Earl cleared EDG and she was on her way with 150 packages to find a seat in the back.

Very uneventful day on the bus.

How come walking shoes styles are either athletic or geriatric?
